By joining Volunteer Program China you can get involved in making a difference to the lives of local children! We work with a wonderful non profit organisation, which supports the development of blind and visually impaired orphans in Beijing.
I was given training in several types of simulation techniques during my internship, and was also able to learn a lot from my colleagues about Chinese culture.
Put the effort in ! With everything; your teachers, other interns, your travelling but especially the language. Whilst writing this, I am in my last month of the internship and wish I had put more effort in with the language in the previous few months. Don't let China go past you, it's too easy to just get in from a days work and start watching a film and have a pot noodle. It will fly by so you need to put the hard work in!!
I would say be open minded, relax and enjoy the experience. There is always someone willing to help if you just ask.
