ImmerQi Becomes Member Of Ties| 2 min read

To become more socially responsible and eco-friendly, ImmerQi has taken a significant interest in CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)and our efforts continue with membership to The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) in 2012, who promote ecotourism and responsible travel throughout the world.

ImmerQi has been contributing towards CSR initiatives for years already. Longstanding relationships with schools all over China mean that we provide local communities and children within them with the opportunity to learn English, a language that will undoubtedly brighten their future prospects.

The recent unveiling of the Volunteer Program China (VPC) contributes to CSR in quite an obvious manner. ImmerQi has partnered with several NGO’s and charities in Beijing, all of whom desperately need volunteers to support the individuals they care for. Our partnership with an orphanage for visually impaired children means that these kids who have permanent, life-affecting ailments, have an opportunity to experience a pleasant, stress free childhood and gain skills that will help them live a normal and happy life.

We have also started the process of becoming a totally eco-friendly organization, by encouraging staff to recycle anything they can and saving electricity where possible. We ask staff to consider the environment when printing materials and wasting paper. We have begun printing all business cards on recyclable card and hope to move to use recycled goods for all of our printing and paper-work purposes.

Therefore, to continue these efforts, ImmerQi has signed up with an ecotourism organization called TIES who are a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting ecotourism. Founded in 1990, TIES has been in the forefront of the development of ecotourism, providing guidelines and standards, training, technical assistance, research and publications.

Since this cooperation was established, we have been thinking about different ways we can inform our staff, partners and participants of how to act responsibly whilst travelling abroad. We are in the process of implementing a section in all of our presentations we give to new participants about ecotourism and safe travel. We have also designated a whole section of our community website to social responsibility and safe travel. ImmerQi aims to be leaders in the student travel industry in terms of CSR and we encourage participants and partners alike to think about their safety and eco-footprint whilst travelling, working or interning abroad!
