The rewards have been immense. What’s more, the delight continues to increase day after day!

Sebastian Hayes - Teaching Intern

I arrived in China with little supervising experience and even less of teaching; if I'm honest I didn't know how to teach. Thinking back to that day, I can really appreciate how much TTC has helped me accomplish.

Under my ‘teaching alias’ (the kids call me Simba - yeah, like the film) I have mimed, signed, danced, shouted, sung and generally behaved like some sort of Yoda-Clown hybrid (okay, enough with the films now). I won’t lie to you, it’s been a LOT of work. Sometimes you feel like you're talking to an empty classroom, whereas other days the students have more energy than a padded room can contain. That said, the rewards have been immense. What’s more, the delight continues to increase day after day.

China is an incredibly diverse country, with a great deal to offer outside the classroom as well as inside. Whether scoping out excessively cute Pandas, eating brains in a traditional Sichuanese Hotpot or getting involved in one of the vast expat communities, I have some excellent memories of China and I intend to make many, many more.

I do not regret my decision to coming here or my decision to go through Teach & Travel China!

Cailin Smith - Teaching Intern

ImmerQi has been a great support system during my time here in China. My TTC adviser has been awesome, whether it is helping with a problem, sharing China experiences or giggling over internet memes. I can now say after coming to China that yes, I have ridden the underground during rush hour in Beijing, yes, I have had duck feet, yes, I held a baby panda, yes, I explored mountaintop temples, and much more. I do not regret my decision to coming here or my decision to go through TTC.

Samantha Pereira - Teaching Intern, from UK

The past year has been absolutely amazing. It was great working with Teach & Travel China in February, as was the support I received ever since I came out to China. So thank you for allowing me this opportunity, I will always remember it with great memories. ImmerQi have given me outstanding support ever since I came out to China.

You will have a whole new world open up to you that you never expected,,,

Jack Johnson - Teaching Intern

I was so lucky to get placed in Changsha, at such a great school as well. I couldn't fault the treatment we received in the slightest. We had so many amazing experiences, I know it sounds cliche but every day was different and I couldn't have organised anything like this without help from ImmerQi. The 5-month internship is the perfect starting place for someone looking to get their foot in the door, to living and working in China. China has thousands of opportunities for those willing to make the jump into a new culture and environment. I’m currently still in Changsha working a new Job and studying Chinese. Both these opportunities wouldn’t have come my way or even occurred to me with the initial support from ImmerQi. You will have your doubts to start with, but if you persevere you can have a whole new world open up to you that you never expected.

If you want to do something totally different and have a life-changing experience I would highly recommend this!

Sara Higgins - Teaching Intern, from Ireland

I did the winter Teach and Travel program and I had such an amazing time. I was placed in a Kindergarten in Dongguan (south China). I found living in China very interesting; I was learning something new every day. At first, I struggled with the lessons but once I got the hang of it I loved it. I would highly recommend for anyone to try this experience and I found ImmerQi great. The advisors were always there if help was needed. If you want to do something totally different and have a life-changing experience I would highly recommend the Teach and Travel program.

China is a second home to me now, I know I will be back one day very soon!

Deneka Weustenfeld - Teaching Intern, from Germany

Before coming to China, I was living at home, never had been overseas, working in a job I hated and very unsure of what I wanted to do with myself. I arrived in China alone and feeling rather overwhelmed. That feeling had left me within 10 minutes of arriving at the accommodation in Beijing. Not only was there another 100+ interns in the same position I was, there was a team of really supportive and friendly staff to help with everything. Five months down the track, I have the best job in the world. Nothing can compare to the feeling of walking into a classroom of 40 kids and have them cheer and all fight to hug you! I have seen some amazing sites, eaten some weird food and made friends that I know I will have for the rest of my life. China is a second home to me now, I know I will be back one day very soon!

Teach & Travel China has not only given me this amazing opportunity, but has been an invaluable support throughout my placement!

Maryke Ferreira - Teaching Intern, from South Africa

China was going to be a bit of a "go-between" during different parts of my life. Yes, I wanted to try something new and yes, I wanted to experience a completely different culture. It was only going to be 1 semester, but here I am, having almost completed my 2nd semester and applying for a 3rd. I don't know what it is, but I can't seem to get enough of this place!!! It's such a vast country with so many places to see and things to do. The Terracotta Army In Xian and the Panda's in the Sichuan Province has been a couple of my highlights so far. Teaching has been great! What a rewarding day to spend it teaching children another language and finally seeing the end result. It doesn't matter how tired or bad-tempered I am, as soon as I walk into that classroom, seeing all the children beaming up at me as if they haven't seen me in years, melts my heart every time! Having been in China for nearly a year, you would think that I've seen most things, but I still experience new things on a daily basis. I would recommend TTC to anyone who wants some adventure, but with an added safety net. TTC has not only given me this amazing opportunity but has been an invaluable support throughout my placements. They were always willing to assist me with important matters such as visa's, but also answered many silly little questions I had.

China in itself is a crazy but wonderful and beautiful country!

Amanda Smailes - Teaching Intern, from USA

The feeling of satisfaction when a child in the classroom gives you that look of totally understanding what you are telling them is very fulfilling. China in itself is a crazy but wonderful and beautiful country. I have had the pleasure of visiting some wonderful cities and meeting some wonderful people. All the people here are very friendly and they make the experience even more special. The TTC staff have been amazing and are always on hand for any issues or questions I have had. I have made some lifelong friends here whom I met during the orientation week in Beijing.

The program truly was worth every penny I spent...

Piotr Kanty - Teaching Intern, from Poland

China had a lot of appeal to me and the program sounded perfect for my situation.
When I got here I didn’t know what to expect but that anxiety was quickly extinguished. The staff was incredibly helpful, I met some great friends from both China and overseas and thoroughly enjoyed my placement where I got to teach a bunch of enthusiastic kids. The program truly was worth every penny I spent.

I have discovered that I love teaching, kids and living abroad. I have made some great friends for life!

Lucy Steiner - Teaching Intern, from Germany

When I arrived in Beijing back in August I did have a 'What the hell are you doing?' moment, but now after nearly five months in China I can say with all certainty that coming here was the best decision I ever made. I never imagined that I could stand in front of roomfuls of children on a daily basis and love it. Teaching English in China has given me a real purpose in life for the first time. I have discovered that I love teaching, kids and living abroad. I have made some great friends for life and now Weifang has become my second home. Whether I come back here or travel elsewhere, my future has now been totally opened up into a world of possibilities and I have China and TTC to thank for that.

I want to express what a truly wonderful experience I've had!

Cheryl Weir - Teaching Intern, from Australia

I want to express what a truly wonderful experience I've had. My experience has been everything I could have hoped for. I'm starting my travels today around China and then will settle in Hangzhou for another year. ImmerQi have been nothing but helpful from the very beginning!

It’s a totally different culture, and it’s all incredible!

Patrick Bernard - Teaching Intern, from UK

I came to China to get a real image of a country I knew nothing about. I really wanted to avoid the tourist trips in a hurried two week stop off on an oriental tour. TTC offered the best way of doing this. It’s really not the China I was expecting, not the Kung Fu Panda scene of idyllic villages and ox-drawn karts but mental busses, deep fried Sea Horse and friendly taxi drivers who take the Highway Code as a bit more of a guide. It’s a totally different culture, and it’s all incredible. Of course, you have to be open-minded, but if you can manage that, the whole experience will be one of the best you will ever have.

China is an amazing place to start your TEFL journey, and ImmerQi is a lovely company to help you do so!

Laura Chislett - Teaching Intern,

The most important thing to do is to come to China with an open mind. Nothing ever happens as planned and if it does you are extremely lucky! You should embrace the Chinese way of life though, it makes you a much more relaxed & happy person. Throughout my time in China, I've made some amazing friends that I will keep for life and visited some fantastic cities all while experiencing life as a teacher. Everything in China happens in a topsy-turvy way, but that is what makes living & working here such a heartwarming and different experience! China is an amazing place to start your TEFL journey, and ImmerQi is a lovely company to help you do so. They are always on hand for any disaster & you never feel completely alone in this huge country!

If I had a chance to do it all again, I would" but that would be an understatement. When I have the chance to do it all again, I will!

Joshua Boyer - Teaching Intern

The TTC Program is magnificent. Words can hardly describe the amount of happiness, excitement, and adventure that I've experienced in such a short time. I've seen many things in China that were so different in real life. There are so many things to experience in China, and I wouldn't have had a chance to experience them if it wasn't for ImmerQi's TTC Program. The training location at CAMIC was great, and the accommodation wasn't too shabby either. The training instructors had knowledge and passion for teaching and were also very helpful. My placement was also great. The school is beautiful, the children are lovely, and the accommodation is superb. The city is also AMAZING. There's so much to do here, and it's so laid back and relaxing. The staff made sure that everything went smooth as well, which was awesome. Chengdu is an amazing city to be placed in. It has so much to offer. I've seen Panda's, Wild Monkey's, during my climb of Mount Emei, and I've seen people relaxing and enjoying life. There's a great nightlife here too! I'd like to say "If I had a chance to do it all again, I would" but that would be an understatement. When I have the chance to do it all again, I will."

Making the decision to come to China was the best decision I have ever made!

Cial Turner - Teaching Intern, from UK

Enrolling on the TTC programme has not only enabled me to witness first hand such a fascinating culture and learn more about its history but opened my eyes to how much I love teaching. I've worked with children both in and outside of schools for many years and now it was my turn to be the teacher, a somewhat daunting idea. The nerves disappeared once I was greeted by 40+ smiling Chinese children, sat up straight, itching to learn. I have never witnessed such helpful kind people as I have since I being in China, being welcomed into the lives of everyone both inside and outside of the school with open arms. Making the decision to come to China was the best decision I have ever made and due to the efficiency of the advisors and their happy to help mentality with anything you may want to ask I know it will continue to be as amazing each and every day!
