Foster home for visually impaired.

This 12+ weeks program is for volunteers who will live and assist at a foster home for blind and visually impaired children and is offers hands on volunteering experience and full cultural exchange.

The mission of the organisation is to teach each visually impaired individual academic skills and assist them to reach a fulfilled life. Through providing care, education, life skills and livelihood opportunities the charity helps the children to live independently as dignified members in their society.

Grassroots NGO’s

Volunteer for 4 to 8 weeks in one of the locally operated and underfunded NGO’s that we support in Beijing.

These organisations have very limited resources – they require funding and hands-on help within a number of areas, which is where our participants can really make a positive difference.

Volunteers provide help with a range of day-to-day tasks as well as individual and group projects, according to each charity’s needs.

How can I help?

Working alongside children with special needs requires certain skills and sensitivity. To ensure that volunteers are fully prepared for their projects and to make them at ease within their roles, the foster home will provide on location training on how to work with children with disabilities during the first few days of their placement. As well as becoming actively involved in the day to day running of the foster home, volunteers will be fully immersed into the Chinese way of life, through language learning and cultural activities. Current roles available include:
